Work Starts To Demolish Bridges In West Langton

Work has begun to demolish two bridges over the railway in West Langton.

Network Rail is flattening the structures over the tracks on farmland off West Langton Road, to provide clearance for when wires are installed for the electrification of the railway.

The unused bridges will not be replaced and temporary traffic lights are in-place on the road this week as part of the work, which is set to be completed by September.

Jenny Blake, Senior Sponsor at Network Rail, said: “The electrification of the Midland Main Line is such an important investment for the East Midlands and it will ultimately lead to cleaner, greener and more reliable journeys for passengers.

“We would like to thank everyone for their patience while we carry out this essential work.”
