Over 30 people were unable to vote in the local elections across Harborough because they did not have any acceptable form of photo identification.
Figures have been released by Harborough District Council, after the new rules were introduced nationwide in a bid to prevent voter fraud.
68 people were initially turned away from polling stations on May 4th, although 36 returned with the acceptable ID and were able to cast their ballot.
A further 32 residents did not go back and therefore did not vote.
The turnout at the election was 34.9%, with 16,495 people voting at polling stations.
