New Exhibition Celebrates 90 Years Of Harborough Theatre

A special exhibition has launched at Harborough Museum to celebrate 90 years of Harborough Theatre.

The milestone is being marked with displays throughout the year, showcasing the nine decades of entertainment the theatre has provided for the local community.

The exhibition will be updated every two months to chart the venue’s history and reveal how the theatre emerged in the 1930’s from a simple play reading group, into the flourishing fully-equipped theatre that people know today.

The first displays include costumes, props and photography from the 1930s and 1940s.

Hazel Cook from Harborough Theatre said: “This display has been put together collectively between our dedicated volunteers and the Harborough Museum staff.

“We are so lucky to have a vast archive, stretching back to the 1930s, that includes programmes and photography from past performances.

“We can’t wait to share our history with the town.”

The exhibition is free to visit at the museum in the Symington Building, Adam and Eve Street, Market Harborough.

Harborough Theatre is a volunteer-run, charitable incorporated organisation that puts on a wide variety of main auditorium and studio shows, social events and many other activities each year.
