Nurses At KGH Won’t Join Next Planned Strike
Written by HFM News on 4th January 2023
Nurses at Kettering General Hospital will not be taking part in the next planned strike over pay.
Although staff voted in favour of industrial action and joined the national walk-out last month, the Royal College of Nursing is changing some of the locations where strikes will be held on January 18th and 19th.
Its members working at Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Trust, who also previously staged a strike, will also not be part of the action, but remain in favour of it.

A spokesman for the RCN told HFM: “Our strike action may need to be prolonged unless the Government finds a way to resolve our dispute with them, so calling strike action in different NHS organisations at different times helps us to sustain strike action for as long as we need to.
“Our members in every NHS organisation in which strike action isn’t being called in January can be assured that when colleagues elsewhere do go on strike, it’s in pursuit of the very same improvements in pay and working conditions because these issues are common across the NHS.
“We’re not ruling out further strike action at the organisations in which members have already been on strike but the ball is in the Government’s court. They can stop this by committing to negotiate with us on pay and over how the NHS can attract and keep the nursing staff that are needed to meet the demands on the service.”
Nurses in Leicestershire are not part of the dispute, after a ballot failed to get enough support.
