Funding Secured For New Skatepark In Kibworth

Written by on 22nd December 2022

The final go-ahead has been given for a new skatepark in Kibworth after funding of over £260,000 was secured.

The much-anticipated facility will go up in Warwick Park using money provided by housing developers who have built in the village.

Young people have been involved in the design and it is hoped it will be built and ready for use by summer 2023.

A previous ageing skatepark was removed from the park five years ago.

Harborough District Council approved the funding under the ‘Section 106’ scheme, where housing developers contribute towards community facilities.

Kibworth Beauchamp Parish Council have selected Canvass Spaces to design and construct the skatepark, which will go in an area near the children’s play area.

Kevin Feltham, chairman of the Parish Council, spoke to HFM:

The project was one of seven to receive funding totalling over £860,000, via the Section 106 developer contribution scheme.

Welland Park Academy in Market Harborough was one of the other organisation to benefit, handed over £240,000 to help support the upgrade of a multi-use community sports pitch and towards improvements at the Octagonal Hall on the school site.
