Leicestershire Police have arrested over 40 drivers in the first week of a winter drink and drug drive campaign.
33 people failed roadside breath tests, including a man aged in his 40’s stopped in Kibworth, while 8 were found to be under the influence of drugs.

Officers are disappointed at the figures, after launching the campaign earlier than normal because of the World Cup.
Jonathan Clarkson, spokesperson for the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Road Safety Partnership said, “Despite our repeated warnings this is a very disappointing start to our latest campaign, over forty drivers have made the wrong decision to get behind the wheel while over the limit and been willing to put themselves and other innocent people at risk.”
Northamptonshire Police made 24 arrests during the first week of the force’s drink and drug drive campaign.
