Man Jailed For Over Five Years After Stabbing In Desborough

A man has been jailed for over five years after another man was stabbed in Desborough.

Patrick Gavin, 33, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm at Northampton Crown Court yesterday.

It follows an incident in November 2020 when a man aged in his 40s was attacked on Harrington Road and treated in hospital for stab wounds to his arm.

Another man was jailed last year for stabbing the victim.

Gavin, of Justin Park, Northampton Road near Market Harborough, was found guilty under joint enterprise of the offence.

The court heard he had armed himself with a shovel at the time of the attack at around 11am, which stemmed from a fight at a wedding more than two years earlier.

Sentencing him to five years and one month in prison, His Honour Judge Rupert Mayo said: “It was a joint attack. You had a shovel, your co-defendant had a knife that was used at least two times. The law of joint responsibility means that you are responsible.

“A highly dangerous weapon was used and revenge was an element. Happily, there was no permanent injury.”
