Poppy Appeal To Launch In Market Harborough

This year’s Poppy Appeal launches in Market Harborough tomorrow.
The Royal British Legion will have a stall at Harborough Market selling poppies and other items, and sellers will be out on the streets, together with collection tins in shops, cafes, schools and pubs.
Last year the appeal in and around Market Harborough raised just under £30,000 and people are again being asked to give generously.
Steve Sherwood from the town’s branch of the Royal British Legion is helping to run this year’s appeal and spoke to HFM:
A number of events will take place in Market Harborough to mark the Remembrance period, including on Remembrance Sunday, when a parade will form part of the ceremony on The Square for the first time since 2019, after Covid restrictions prevented it from happening in 2020 and 2021.
There will also a small ceremony by the entrance to the Memorial Gardens at 11am on Friday November 11th and by the war memorials in Welland Park and on Coventry Road on Saturday 12th.
