Woman Arrested After Hunt Saboteur Injured In Hit & Run

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent after a hunt saboteur was struck by a car near Oakham.

The 59-year-old from Knossington was questioned by Police yesterday evening and released under investigation.

Police were called just before midday on Tuesday, when a woman aged in in her 40s, a member of the Northants Hunt Saboteurs group, was hit by a grey Mercedes which did not stop at the scene.

The victim was monitoring a hunt in Knossington at the time of the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment – she has since been discharged.

The car involved in the collision has been recovered by Police.

Video footage of the incident has been widely shared on social media and Detective Inspector Charles Edwards said: “Our investigation into the incident is continuing and we’ve spoken to a number of witnesses who were in the area at the time.

“I’m aware of the concern this incident has raised and we’ll provide further updates as our enquiries progress.”
