Harborough MP Backs Rishi Sunak To Be New Prime Minister

Harborough’s MP is backing Rishi Sunak to be the country’s new Prime Minister.
Neil O’Brien pledged his support to the former chancellor yesterday, before Boris Johnson announced he was pulling out of the leadership contest.
He took the decision after speaking to local Conservative councillors and activists over the weekend.
Speaking before the former PM pulled out, Mr O’Brien said despite having ‘lots of respect’ for Boris Johnson, ‘on balance now is not the time.’
Mr Sunak is only leadership candidate to publicly have enough support from MPs so far, while Penny Mordaunt has until 2pm to secure the backing of 100 MPs.
