Centenary Celebrations For Salon

Special centenary celebrations are taking place this week at a hair
salon in the HFM area.

Staff at John Newman Hairdressing & Beauty are marking the milestone in
Rothwell town centre – exactly 100 years after Edward Newman first
opened his new hairdressers and tobacconists shop there in 1922.

The salon is now run by Shirley Newman – the third generation of the
family to do so – following the early retirement of her husband John,
ten years’ ago, due to ill health.

As part of their celebrations, the current team arranged a raffle to
raise funds for charities including the Alzheimer’s Society, the Stroke
Association and the Twinkling Stars Appeal at Kettering General
Hospital.
