Developer Warned After Construction Traffic Uses Village Roads

Written by on 12th August 2022

A housing developer has been warned construction vehicles must stop going through Great Bowden.

Harborough District Council has taken the action after numerous complaints from villagers about large vehicles trundling through their narrow streets.

Construction traffic going to the new homes site off Leicester Lane is supposed to follow an approved route and not enter the village.

Deliveries must also be made between specified times.

A Council spokesperson told HFM Barwood Homes has been given seven days to deal with the issue or face further action, which could see all work on the site temporarily halted.

The Council added a number of directional and site information signs have been stolen in recent weeks, believed to be by disgruntled residents.

Phil Knowles is ward councillor for Great Bowden and Arden ward:

Barwood Homes have been approached for comment.
