Care Home Operator Considers Appeal After Kibworth Plan Rejected

Written by on 22nd July 2022

A care home operator is considering launching an appeal after being refused permission to open a new facility in Kibworth Beauchamp.

Councillors went against the recommendation of planning officers to reject the plan for the 72-bedroom home earlier this week.

They ruled it would have been over development of the countryside location on Fleckney Road and went against The Kibworths’ Neighbourhood plan.

Tanglewood Care Homes are considering submitting an appeal against Harborough District Council, which would mean the decision being reviewed by a government-appointed planning inspector.

The development would have created 60 full-time jobs and Karen Whitehead, Director of Development at Tanglewood, told HFM: “We were extremely disappointed that the scheme was not approved by the Planning Committee, despite the scheme being recommend for approval by the Local Authority Case Officer.

“We are considering our options which may or may not involve submitting an appeal”
