Harborough’s Street Pastors To End Patrols After 13 Years
Written by HFM News on 7th July 2022
Market Harborough’s Street Pastors are to end patrols in the town centre after 13 years.
They have been a familiar sight on Friday and Saturday nights since 2009, but the group is being forced to close due to dwindling numbers and financial difficulties.
Volunteers from the town’s churches have helped hundreds of people on nights out, and Police have praised their work as the team prepares for their final patrol next Saturday night.
Stephen Morse, Administrator of Market Harborough Street Pastors, spoke to HFM’s Nick Shaw about the decision to close the group down:

Street Pastors on patrol
The Street Pastors have come up with a number of initiatives over the years to help people, including giving out free flip flops to women who’ve taken off painful shoes, to stop them injuring their feet, and lollipops to people to try an calm aggressive moments.
Sergeant Pete Jelbert from Harborough Police told HFM their work has been invaluable:
A church service of thanks for the work of the Street Pastors will be held in the autumn.
