Welland Park Academy’s Nicki Burgess Handed ‘Unsung Hero’ Award

The PA to the Principal at Welland Park Academy in Market Harborough has been handed a top award for her outstanding commitment to the school.
Nicki Burgess is one of just 80 people nationwide to be honoured with a Pearson National Teaching Silver Award.
She has been recognised in the ‘Unsung Hero’ category for going over and above to help change the lives of pupils.
Nicki, who has worked at Welland Park for 18 years, was told of the award on National Thank a Teacher Day and is now shortlisted for one of 18 gold awards, the winners of which will feature on TV’s One Show.
She voluntarily heads up the school PTA, the Year 11 Prom and works with local community groups to organise fundraising events.

Nicki was described as a ‘selfless, all-round good egg who puts everyone else first’ in her nomination.
