New Chairman For Harborough District Council

Harborough District Council has a new Chairman.
Cllr Neil Bannister, who has served on the authority for the past 12 years, received the chains of office at a meeting last night.

Cllr Bannister, who represents the Dunton Ward, has chosen to support the Leicestershire and Rutland branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association during his year in office, and spoke after he was named as the new Chairman:
Cllr Rani Mahal was elected as vice-chairman and Cllr Phil King was re-elected as the Conservative group leader for a fourth year, meaning he will continue in the position of Council Leader.
Outgoing chairman Cllr Stephen Bilbie handed over a cheque for just over £2,900 to Leicestershire sight-loss charity Vista – which was his chosen charity.
