Work Underway To Protect Harborough’s Roads From Potholes

Roads across the Harborough District are to be re-surfaced as part of a scheme to help reduce potholes developing.

Known as ‘surface dressing’, the roads will be provided with an additional protective layer by sealing the surface with bitumen and stone chippings.

Leicestershire County Council say the new layer prevents water and air penetrating the tarmac underneath and is ten times more cost-effective than conventional re-surfacing.

Roads in Market Harborough, Little Bowden, Kibworth, Lubenham, Tur Langton, Saddington, Bushby, Stoughton and Knaptoft, will be among those worked on this month, with routes in other places across the district to benefit from the scheme between now and the end of July.

Across the county, the work will be carried out on the equivalent of 75 football pitches worth of road over the coming months.
