Innovative Project Creates Leicestershire’s Very Own Bean

You’ll soon be able to enjoy Leicestershire beans on toast thanks to an innovative project launched by the Eco Village in Market Harborough.

The venue has teamed up with Stanford Hall near Lutterworth to grow nutritious haricot beans in a community supported agriculture project.

They are then being turned into meals by the ‘Two Old Goats’, whose café is based at the Eco Village on St Mary’s Road.

The Bean Project is aimed at promoting sustainability, regenerative farming, healthy eating and tackling food poverty.

A ‘Pay-It-Forward’ scheme will also allow people to support the initiative in helping members of the community struggling with food costs.

The project will launch this Saturday (April 16th) during a Spring Fair at the Eco Village.
