Historic Bottle-Kicking Event Returns After Gap Of Two Years

The historic Hallaton Bottle-Kicking event returns on Easter Monday after a gap of two years.
Thousands of people are set to watch the spectacle, which dates back 2000 years and is one of the oldest continued customs in the country.

Villagers from Hallaton and neighbouring Medbourne will once again battle it out to wrestle bottles over fields in a bid to claim victory.
The pandemic meant the event could not take place in 2020 and 2021, although organisers still walked the route to keep the tradition alive.
Phil Allan has been chairman of the event for nearly 40 years and spoke to Hfm about it returning this year:
