Learn Academies Trust Is Looking For Local Governors

Learn Academies Trust is looking for people who want to make a difference in their local community and who are passionate about ensuring that children receive the best possible start to their education.

It needs people to join its award-winning governance team as local governors in one of its 11 primary schools in Harborough, Blaby and Narborough.

Local governors use their professional skills and experience to support school leaders in areas such as developing the school’s individual ethos and values, strategic planning, health and safety, premises, curriculum and parental engagement.

Each local governing body is made up of school staff, parent governors, community governors and foundation governors in Church of England schools.

Anyone can apply to be a community governor – you don’t need any previous experience of working in education or to be a parent of a child at the school.

In fact, a background in other fields such as Human Resources, finance, logistics, health and safety, project management, marketing or law can bring a valuable new perspective and expertise to the governing body.

Applying your skills and experience to a new context is also great for your own professional development and CV too.

Trust Leader Stef Edwards said, “Local Governors play an essential role in governance in Learn-AT.

“They work on behalf of the Trust Board to provide support, challenge and critical friendship to our school leaders.

“The contribution they make to the quality of education and in connecting our schools to our communities is invaluable.”
