Market Harborough Selected For Government Pilot On Neighbourhood Planning

Up to £45,000 of government cash will be spent on encouraging more people in Market Harborough to get involved with Neighbourhood Planning.
The town is one of just seven areas of the country to be part of a pilot scheme, aimed at giving residents a greater say on where new homes, shops and offices should go and what infrastructure should be provided.

The money has been awarded to Harborough District Council, who will employ a new Engagement Officer to organise forums for people to have their say.
Bruce Durham, of the newly formed Harborough Town Forum Facebook group, which was started in December, said: “We are really excited by the fantastic news that Harborough District Council have won this grant.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to champion the interests of all residents, business and employees in Market Harborough town and provide the eyes, ears and voice that represents all our town’s communities and lead to the creation of Neighbourhood Forum/s.”
The funding has come from The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.
