Market Harborough Railway Station To Finally Get New Toilets
Written by HFM News on 5th January 2022
Work will finally begin later this month to build a new toilet block at Market Harborough railway station.
Travellers have been left frustrated at having to use temporary loos for nearly three years, after previous facilities were closed when the major re-vamp of the station took place in 2019.
Network Rail, who will also create a new waiting room on the northbound platform as part of the improvements, has apologised for the delay.
The new facilities will open in late spring or early summer.
Harborough District councillor Phil Knowles, who has been campaigning for the work, spoke to Hfm:

Gary Walsh, Route Director for Network Rail’s East Midlands Route, said: “We’re happy to be able to confirm that work to build a new toilet block and waiting area at Market Harborough railway station will begin later this month.
“We know the delay to this project has been a source of frustration for passengers and we’re sorry about this.
“Our team will be starting on site in mid-January and we hope that this news is welcomed by all users of the station.”
