Opposition Mounts Against Plan To Turn Village Pub Into House

Opposition is mounting against plans to turn a village pub in the Welland Valley into a house.

Several residents in Glooston have lodged objections with Harborough District Council, after the plan for the The Old Barn Inn was announced last month.

They say the pub, which has been closed for the past two years, is an essential community facility and needs to be retained, particularly as there are five surrounding villages with no pub or restaurant.

Developers say there has been little interest in anyone taking on the pub business since it shut.

The Council is expected to consider the planning application within the next three months.
