Rise In Taxi Fares Recommended For Approval

A rise in taxi fares across Harborough is being recommended for approval.
Members of the District Council’s Cabinet will be asked to back the 4.8% increase to tariffs when they meet next week.
It would mean the cost of a two-mile journey would go up by 41p to £7.09.
It has been over four years since tariffs were last reviewed and the taxi trade has requested the rise because of significant increases in operating costs, including the cost of fuel.
If the rise is approved, a period of public consultation would take place before it came into force.
