Petition Against Potential New Housing Between Market Harborough & East Farndon

Written by on 25th October 2021

A campaign has been launched after plans were muted to build around 2,000 homes between Market Harborough and East Farndon.

The Liberal Democrat group on Harborough District Council have set-up a petition opposing any new housing, after the area was identified for potential development in the future, following a ‘call for sites’ by West Northamptonshire Council.

Although it is not being progressed further at this stage, there are concerns about the big impact such a large number of homes would have on infrastructure including roads and local services.

East Farndon Parish Council also strongly oppose the proposals and have been working tirelessly behind the scenes with West Northamptonshire Council to understand how they have been allowed to be presented for consideration.

Once the Parish Council was notified it worked quickly to get the message into the community including the surrounding areas and has produced a document (available on its website HERE) to explain the proposals further.

Parish councillor Bernie Fallon spoke to Hfm:

East Farndon Parish Council  will be holding a meeting on 9 November at 7.45PM where this topic will be discussed along with other Parish business. The Ward Councillors for Brixworth (of which East Farndon is part of) have been invited and will be attending. This offer will also be extended to Councillors from Harborough District Council.

Although this meeting is public and anyone can attend, the limited size of the Village Hall and enforcement of Covid rules being enforced means that space will be limited.
