Car Thief Narrowly Missed Hitting Officer & Police Dog

Police have released video footage of the moment a car thief rammed a police car in Rothwell, narrowly missing an officer and her dog.

It was filmed on PC Lucy Sculthorpe’s body camera, as she and Police Dog Bryn attempted to stop Alex Lundy in Squires Hill on February 26th, after blocking in his BMW.

He refused to get out of the car and rammed her Police vehicle three times, nearly squashing the officer and Bryn against a stone wall in the process, before speeding off.

Lundy had stolen a car from Cold Ashby earlier in the day, running over the owner’s foot as he made his getaway.

Another police dog, PD Socks, was in the Police vehicle at the time and was left shaken by the incident.

A high-speed pursuit then took place around Rothwell, before the BMW crashed into a tree in Moorfield Road and officers arrested him in a garden.

Lundy, 45, formally of Corby, was jailed for three years after admitting a series of charges, including dangerous driving.

He was also banned from driving for five years.
