Friends of a popular Kibworth man who died from Coronavirus have raised over £30,000 in his memory after completing a mammoth 10-day cycle ride.
Ellis White, a former student at Robert Smyth Academy in Market Harborough, lost his life last February, aged 24.
13 of his friends cycled from John O Groats to Land’s End, a distance of just under a 1,000 miles, in aid of the Leicester Hospitals charity.
The total donated in sponsorship is now over £31,500.

Ellis was in the ‘vulnerable’ category after having a kidney transplant in 2019 and sadly contracted the virus despite shielding.
His friends wanted to support the charity as Ellis was cared for at both Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General Hospital and regularly commented on how supportive staff were when he was undergoing dialysis and the kidney transplant.
Before he died, he was treated in the Intensive Care Unit at Leicester Royal Infirmary.
Luke Mathers was one of the riders who took part and he spoke to Hfm’s Nick Shaw:
