Sharp Drop In Covid-19 Cases As Vaccine Roll-Out Tops 130,000

There has been a big drop in Covid-19 cases across Harborough as the number of jabs given in the District tops 130,000.
The number of cases has fallen by 40% in the past week, with 250 confirmed in the seven days to yesterday, 168 fewer than the previous week.
The infection rate per 100,000 people has now fallen to 312.
It comes as a new milestone is reached in the vaccine roll-out across Harborough, with 130,686 jabs now administered.
Latest figures show just over 75% of adults in the district have had both doses – 88% have had one jab.
Mike Sandys is Director of Public Health and Leicestershire County Council and told Hfm the end of the Euro football championships, which saw lots of people meeting together, has definitely helped bring down case numbers.
He is also praising people for continuing to take precuations, like wearing masks in busy places like shops:
