Last Chance To Comment On ‘Climate Emergency Action Plan’

Harborough District Council is reminding us we now have only until the end of this week to have our say on its ‘Climate Emergency Action Plan’.
After declaring a ‘Climate Emergency’ two years ago, following a number of protests by young people in Market Harborough, the authority is now proposing to seek funding for further electric vehicle charging infrastructure, include training in the climate emergency for all staff and Council members and to work with Parishes and communities to promote lower carbon choices.
Council leader Phil King was among those affected by the freak storm in Kibworth last Tuesday – a type of weather event which most scientists agree will occur much more frequently as the planet warms up.
He told Hfm the authority has already made good progress with measures to reduce carbon emissions:
