Caution Urged Ahead Of ‘Freedom Day’

Leicestershire’s Director of Public Health is urging caution ahead of Coronavirus restrictions being lifted on Monday.

Cases across the Harborough District continue to rise – with 268 in the past week – an increase of 102 on the previous seven days.

The infection rate of 230 per 100,000 people is below the national average and half of the cases are in the 10 to 30 age group.

The rise has been mirrored across Leicestershire, but hospital admissions have not increased by many, with the continuing vaccine roll-out helping to protect people.

Mike Sandys told Hfm it is vital people remain responsible and urged those who are working from home, to continue to do so:
