New Apartment & Homes Plan Recommended For Approval

Plans to convert an historic office in Market Harborough town centre into eleven apartments could be given the go-ahead next week.

The scheme for the Fisher German base at the top of the High Street also includes building ten mews style houses at the rear of the site.

The chartered surveyors have used the grade-two listed building since 1960, although its lease comes to an end next year.

Planning officers at Harborough District Council are recommending councillors approve the planning application, despite the development lacking any affordable housing.

Speaking when the plans were first announced, a spokesperson for Fisher German told Hfm: “The lease on our Market Harborough office is coming to an end in 2022 and we are currently looking at options for new office space.

“The firm has extremely strong connections in Market Harborough dating back more than 200 years, so we are very committed to remaining in the area.

“This is an excellent opportunity for both the firm as well as the owners of the building, who are looking to create much-needed homes in the town centre.

“The re-location will be an exciting step for the firm and will provide colleagues with a modern office that will aid collaborative working as we continue to drive the business forward.”
