Young Market Harborough Racer Aims For Pole Position

A Market Harborough youngster is taking the national electric karting championships by storm.

Joel Dixon-Coen, aged 11, took up the sport competitively two years ago and is currently second in the Total Karting Zero Championship after two of the six rounds.

The young racer, a pupil at Meadowdale Primary School, told Hfm he is feeling confident going into this weekend’s race in Devon and really enjoys the sport, because unlike traditional karting, it’s very quiet:

Electric karting is taking the traditional sport to a new environmentally-friendly level, as all the karts are electric-powered.

The Championship was set-up and is run by Formula One engineer Rob Smedley.

Joel is following in the footsteps of his Mum Tracy, who raced cars herself until she was pregnant with him.
