Have Your Say On Plan To Tackle Climate Change Across Harborough

People are being asked their views on tackling climate change across Harborough.

After declaring a Climate Emergency two years ago, the District Council is preparing an Action Plan, and wants people to have their say, during a public consultation.

The Council has committed to reducing its own emissions to net zero, as far as practically possible, by 2030.

The aim is also to support communities and businesses in reducing their emissions too.

Harborough district has higher than the UK average emissions, with over 55% of emissions are due to transport, and the draft Action Plan identifies six key commitments which people are encouraged to read and respond to, as part of an eight-week consultation.

Cllr Jon Bateman, Harborough District Council portfolio holder for Climate Change, spoke to Hfm:

Environmental campaigners are welcoming the publication of the draft Action Plan and want to see it implemented as soon as possible.
