Let Us ‘Name & Shame’ Flytipping Offenders, Says Council Leader

Harborough’s Council Leader is calling for flytipping fines to be increased to a minimum of £1,000 and for offenders to be ‘named and shamed.’
Current government legislation means the maximum fine for people issued a fixed penalty notice is £400 and it doesn’t allow them to be publicly named.
The only time that changes is if someone fails to pay and is summoned to appear before a Court.
Numerous fines have been handed out this year by the council, as part of its ‘Tip-Off’ campaign. following illegal dumping of waste in the countryside
The majority have been given to home owners after dumped rubbish was traced back to them.
