New Plan Announced For Controversial Development

New plans have been announced to build homes at the back of a Market Harborough cul-de-sac.

The original scheme for 16 houses and bungalows off Tymecrosse Gardens was approved by a government planning inspector three years ago, after developers appealed Harborough District Council’s decision to refuse planning permission, amid concerns about flooding and landscaping.

Near-by residents also opposed the scheme.

No work every began on the site and a new planning application for 27 new homes on the three acres of land has been handed in.

Venture Properties Group is behind the new application.

A document submitted to the council on behalf of the applicant said: “The proposal has ensured compliance with the relevant national and local planning policies to ensure that it remains in-keeping with the saved policies of the Local Plan and the National Planning Policy Framework.

“HDC have identified the need for affordable homes within the Market Harborough area and the wider district.

“The proposed development helps to deliver affordable homes in a sustainable location.”
