Burglars convicted

Two men who filmed themselves speeding through the Harborough District in cars they’d stolen have been put behind bars for a total of nine
years – after pleading guilty to a string of burglary offences.
Leicestershire Police linked the duo to a total of twenty-eight burglaries reported to them between March and April this year – where
car keys were stolen from inside the property and the owners’ vehicles then taken.
The series of similar crimes prompted the force to launch a co-ordinated operation across the Harborough and Wigston, South Leicester and
Hinckley and Blaby Neighbourhood Policing Areas to identify those responsible.
23 year-old Ricky Cox of Wigston was sentenced to four years in prison – whilst 18 year old Jake Ward, formerly of Babington Row in Leicester,
was jailed for five years at Leicester Crown Court.
