Cost Of Crime On Local Farmers Increases
Written by HFM News on 4th August 2020
The cost of crime on farmers across the Hfm region is on the up.
A new report from insurers NFU Mutual has put the amount lost in Leicestershire last year at £1.7m, a 19% rise on 2018, and at £1.2m in Northamptonshire – double the figure in 2018.
It says Leicestershire is the eighth worst-hit county in the UK and Northamptonshire is ranked 16th.
The increases were driven by thefts of high-value tractors, quad bikes and other farm vehicles.
Another ‘major concern’ is the theft of expensive tractor GPS equipment.
