Go-Ahead Given For Massive New Housing Development

The go-ahead has been given for 2,750 new homes to be built near Lutterworth.
They will go up on over 550 acres of farmland adjacent to the M1, after councillors narrowly approved the plan last night, despite hearing of a number of concerns.

The area for the development
The so-called ‘Lutterworth East’ development is the largest scheme of its kind in the Harborough District in recent years and will include two new primary schools, over 1,000 ‘affordable’ homes and retail and business space, with the potential of creating 2,500 jobs.
Leicestershire County Council is behind the plan, which was approved by Harborough Council’s planning committee by five votes to four.
Concerns raised included the location of a ‘spine road’ through the development, noise, air quality, and the proximity of electricity pylons to some of the proposed homes.
Around 1,260 of the new homes are expected to be built by 2031 and the rest after 2031.
