Council To Waive Pavement Licence Fee To Help Businesses

Written by on 28th July 2020

Harborough Council is waiving a fee for pubs, cafes and restaurants to apply to put tables and chairs outside their premises.

Bosses had proposed charging £100 to consider the pavement licences, but councillors who considered the move last night, said that wasn’t fair on businesses in the current economic climate.

The scheme is aimed at helping the hospitality sector during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Councillors agreed to make no charge for applications for the next six months.

Councillor Paul Bremner spoke at the meeting:

Applications for licences will be considered with two weeks.
