Fire At Flat In Market Harborough

Firefighters were called to deal with a fire in the kitchen of a flat in Market Harborough this afternoon.
The female occupier of the property at Giffard Court on Hearth Street raised the alarm at 12.40pm.
The blaze, which involved items that had been left on a hot hob, was quickly dealt with and only minor damage was caused.
The woman, who has been praised by firefighters for shutting the door of the kitchen and leaving the property, was checked over by paramedics after inhaling smoke, but wasn’t injured.
Fire crews were slightly delayed getting to the scene because of the way some vehicles were parked on Hearth Street and are reminding people to consider whether a fire engine would be able to get through, when parking up.
