Coronavirus: Monday’s Local Updates

A specially-built mortuary has opened to help cope with the numbers of people dying after testing positive for Coronavirus in Leicestershire.
Housed in a vacant building on the Leicester General Hospital site, the first part of it opened over the weekend.
106 people have died in Leicester’s Hospitals after contracting Covid-19.
A similar facility has also opened in Northamptonshire – where 97 deaths have been recorded. It has been set-up at a former recycling site near Wollaston.
A Market Harborough charity is thanking people who have come forward to offer to help others during the pandemic.
VASL teamed up with Harborough Council to appeal for volunteers and continues to get a fantastic response.
Charity manager Maureen O’Malley told Hfm they are working to match people with various positions and is urging people to be mindful of those who maybe in need of help:
Local farmers are doing their bit to show their appreciation for the NHS and keyworkers working hard during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Displays with messages are appearing at the sides of fields, like the one below beside the A6 on the outskirts of Kibworth, and in Theddingworth a giant ‘NHS’ logo has been created in a barley field by farmer James Horn.
