Appeal After Dead Animals Dumped In Country Lane

The RSPCA is appealing for information after dead animals and skins were dumped on a remote country lane near Lutterworth.

The bodies including a muntjac deer, stoat, woodpecker and weasel were found on Woodway Lane, near to the junction with Main Road, in Claybrooke Parva on March 18^th, although details have just been released.

RSPCA inspector Ann Bennett was sent to investigate and said she was keen to know who the items belonged to.

She said: “It is a very strange find – some of the dead animals appeared to have been partially skinned for fur like the Muntjac deer.

“But there were also dead birds like a woodpecker and other animals like the stoat and the weasel so it is very mysterious and I am keen to find out what has happened.

“There were suggestions some of the feathers and animal skins could have been used for fly fishing but it seems odd to scatter them across a road. I really don’t know what has happened but I am treating it as a suspicious incident.

“I am appealing for anyone with information to get it touch – especially if they saw anything suspicious around the date these items were found on March 18 around 11am.”
