Renewed Calls For Car Park To Be Closed

Written by on 8th November 2019

There are renewed calls for a car park in Market Harborough to be shut after it flooded yesterday for the third time in four weeks, again leaving vehicles underwater.

The flooded car park

Harborough Council Leader Phil King has told Hfm the authority is powerless to force owners of the privately-run car-park, adjacent to the river off Rockingham Road, to act, but he would like to see the facility shut permanently.

He has however said the Council will raise their concerns with the owners and urge them to erect more signage alerting drivers to the flooding hazard.

Owners of the car park, County Car Parks, have not responded to a request for comment.
