Foxton Locks To Be Drained For Repairs
Written by HFM News on 30th October 2019
Major work is to take place at Foxton Locks, which will see the historic flight drained of water for three months.
Costing around £150,000, it will include replacing the oak gates on half of the ten locks, repairing brickwork in the lock chambers, and installing new lock ladders.

The major scheme by the Canal and River Trust is set to start in January and be completed during March 2020 – at a time when the Grand Union Canal is quieter with boaters.
Specialist craftsmen and equipment will be brought in to carry out the work, which will require planning permission from Harborough Council, because of the historic nature of the site.
Around 5,000 boats travel through the flight of locks and over 300,000 people visit the site every year.
