Traffic Concerns To Be Aired

A long-awaited meeting to discuss traffic related issues in Market Harborough will take place later this week.
The meeting, arranged by local county councillor Sarah Hill will see cross-party councillors and senior officers from Harborough Council meet Leicestershire’s Highway department.
Leader of the opposition at Harborough Council, Cllr Phil Knowles, will be one of those there:
Last week it was revealed a bid of £15m of government cash is to be made for congestion-busting measures in the town.
Councillor Blake Pain, cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “Improving traffic congestion and improving air quality is a top priority. That’s why we’re working hard to draw up a bid for millions of pounds of Government money to support the Market Harborough Strategic Transport plan, which was consulted upon and supported by the County and Harborough District Council in 2017.
“We worked closely with the district council to find out what was important to residents and were pleased that response levels were so high.
“Now, we’re looking at the ideas put forward assessing how they fit with the funding criteria before working with the district council to jointly develop this significant bid.”
