Flood Alert Still In Force

A flood alert remains in force along the stretch of the River Welland through Market Harborough and further afield.

There was flooding in a number of areas over the weekend, including in Welland Park, where the river breached its banks, and for the second time this month in the car park opposite the railway station, where five cars were left stranded in deep water.

A number of roads in low-lying areas were also impassable because of the flooding.

The Environment Agency say the water level in the Welland peaked at 8pm on Saturday evening at 1.4 metres but began to recede yesterday when the rain stopped.
