Appeal For Woman To Come Forward After Crash

Police are appealing for a woman who stopped at the scene of a crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist to make contact with them.

Officers say she could have vital information as they continue to hunt the driver of a blue Mini One car involved in the collision at the Wistow Crossroads, who fled the scene on foot after it happened last Thursday.

The male rider died in hospital after the crash at Kibworth Road/Kilby Road/Leicester Road junction just before midday.

Police say a number of lines of enquiry are being carried out in a bid to find the man.

Detective Sergeant Gary Haines, from Leicestershire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“We would still like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision. I am appealing to motorists who were travelling along Leicester Road, either to or from Newton Harcourt, just before midday on Thursday. If you have a dashcam installed in your vehicle, then please get in touch.

“From enquiries carried out to date, we believe a woman stopped at the scene but has not yet spoken to police. I am also particularly keen to speak to her and am appealing for her to get in touch.

“I would also like to speak to anyone else who has information about the collision but has not come forward. Any details you have, no matter how insignificant you think they may be, could help our investigation.”
