Church St Xmas Lights Set To Return

Written by on 12th June 2019

Plans are afoot for Christmas lights to return to Market Harborough’s Church Street this December.

There was outcry when the traditional cross-street displays were not erected last year, because of changes to health and safety legislation.

The Christmas Lights brackets remain in place on Church Street

Now, following a meeting with business owners, Harborough Council is drawing up plans for new light displays and has written to landlords asking for their permission for them to be installed on the front of their premises.

There will also be full testing all of the light infrastructure next month.

A Harborough Council spokesman told Hfm: “We have been looking at what work would be required, ensuring any works meet health and safety requirements before this option can be approved by the Council.

“We have also written to the appropriate landlords of the properties in Church Street to ask for their consent for new Christmas lighting to be installed on the front of their properties – either using existing or new brackets.”
