Facebook Request Results In Flytipping

A man who posted a request on Facebook for someone to remove rubbish from his home has been fined three hundred pounds after it was then dumped in a fly-tipping hotspot near Great Bowden.
Evidence found amongst the pile of household waste – that even included a crutch – traced it back to an address in Corby.

The owner, who has not been named, had paid £80 to someone who responded to the post to clear his garage, but failed to check whether they were registered to do so.
They have been handed a fixed penalty notice by Harborough Council following the fly-tipping in December on Welham Lane.
Householders are legally responsible for any household waste produced on their property.
Jonathan Bateman, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Regulatory Services, said: “Not only has this person paid out for a rogue individual to remove their rubbish; they have been fined £300 on top of it. This reaffirms the importance of checking that anyone disposing of rubbish on your behalf is legally allowed to do so.”
It’s the second person in a week to be issued a fine for the offence after another incident of illegal dumping in the same place.
