Investigation After Barn Blaze

An investigation is underway after a fire destroyed a barn containing around 100 bales of straw in Houghton On The Hill.

Firefighters, who spent nearly 20 hours dealing with the blaze, say temperatures reached in excess of 700°C in places, the temperature that lava flows at.

They were first to called to the blaze at a farm on Uppingham Road at 9.34am yesterday and were were able to prevent it from spreading to neighbouring buildings.
